Survey, anyone?

Take the MIT Weblog Survey

A lot of info about Guantanamo Bay, from NPR.

I kept hearing about that Top 100 Movie Quotes thing, but of course I didn't watch it, and I never had seen the list, either, but here it is. In case I'm not the only one who was vaguely curious. (I'm sick to death of most of the top ones, which probably means they got it right, more or less.)

Catching up

I don't seem to have much time to post lately. I've been very busy at work, and the amount I've been playing Kingdom of Loathing during non-work hours since the KoL powers-that-be implemented the new ascension feature earlier this month also has something to do with it, I'm sure.

Slackivist on what Guantanamo Bay means to America.

Jeff Jarvis on the BTK confession

That Memphis "therapy" group that is running what essentially seems to be a brain-washing camp for gay teens is under investigation by the state of Tennessee. About time.

You can buy a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Hampton Roads, Va., for only $2.5 million.

In the case of the woman who disappeared at sea from the Galveston-based cruise ship Elation, it wasn't an accident and wasn't a crime, say authorities. They are not commenting further, but that pretty much rules out everything but suicide, doesn't it?

(Which reminds me, one of the other Carnival ships that sails out of Galveston is called the Ecstasy. That name cracks me up. You might as well just call it the Orgasm.)

Brains

A UTMB professor wrote a good editorial about Terri Schiavo's autopsy results in the Houston Chronicle. (Whether that requires registration or not I'm not sure about. Everything seems to these days.)

Congressional Republicans are looking for an exit strategy on Social Security.

Deep Throat

Bob Woodward finally tells the whole story. (From MSNBC, so no registration required. The Today Show video linked to on that page is also well worth watching.)

This is one of those "big surprise" items: book burnings are up under Bush's administration.

And edited to add this one: A field guide to magnetic ribbons. Hee.
